Grand Champion Ruby Roze of Szep-Allat How is a Grand Championship gained in New Zealand?

Well only the VERY BEST can ever get it as the dog must have won at least 50 challenge certificates (Best dog or bitch in breed and awarded champion quality by the judge, the easier part!!) and it must also win three best in shows at all breed championship shows under 3 different judges.

This is a pinnacle that even those showing the more well known breeds often look on as an almost unattainable goal! It is the dream all of us who show in the breed ring have, that one day we will have a dog with the ability to become a Grand Champion!

Last issue we reported that Ch Ruby Roze of Szep-Allat became the first ever Vizsla in New Zealand to win an All Breed's Best In Show at a championship show!! Well now she has broken new boundaries!

By taking her THIRD Best in all breed championship show as well as being awarded over 50 Challenge Certificates (I asked Jan how many Roze had at the time of gaining her third BIS and it was well in excess of 100!!!) Roze has now qualified for her title of GRAND CHAMPION.

Roze has also won FIVE Best in Show at specialty championship shows (4 at full Gundog shows and 1 at the Continental Gundog show).

Not only is this a great moment for Jan and Roze but also for our whole breed! I am sure that you all join in our celebrations and congratulations at this great achievement!

Editors note: For those of you who wish to understand the different types of shows in New Zealand we have an article further on in this Newzsletter.
