New Zealand Council of Docked Breeds

New Zealand is about to place before Parliament an "Animal Welfare Bill" that essentially helps animals, asks for correct treatment in law and other wonderful things that we are all in general agreement with.

However, hidden in the list are some very far reaching requirements which, if it became law, could disallow such things as tail docking and tattooing for registration. Once law, this bill could be used for prosecutions for all manner of things that emotional animal welfare groups decide are against the dog's interest. Some examples might be: Dog Showing (eg; aren't we just giving a beauty contest for dogs, they're made to travel sometimes hundreds of Kilometres and placed in cages etc.), dog trialing (travel, "made" to run across open ground to seek out caged birds, sometimes wild birds, shot over with a real rifle or shotgun etc.) and so on. A group of us are taking this very seriously indeed and have formed a New Zealand Council of Docked Breeds, of which Steve is a delegate.

NOW WE NEED YOUR HELP.

To get the money and backing, the council needs to build up it's membership. So if you agree that breeders should be allowed to CHOOSE to dock we encourage you to join the council!

Please send $10.00 for an individual or $12.50 for a family for membership for one year. The address to send it is to:
